The PCC softball team was outplayed by East Los Angeles College throughout the game on Tuesday as it lost with the final score of 11-2.

Despite the loss, the Lancers had some good individual performances from Brittany Skoien and Lupita Contreras.

The team missed hitting opportunities, unlike East L.A. The Lancers had a final tally of 2 runs, 5 hits. East L.A. scored 11 runs off 12 hits.

Third baseman Skoien had two big catches in the fourth inning.

She ended the game with two catches and two hits.

She was happy with her performance but wished the game went their way.

"We should have won the game today," Skoien said. "We were trying our best, we had some good plays but we need to work on our hitting."

Marissa Rangel scored off a triple from Contreras in the third inning. The other score was also in the third inning as Contreras approached home base and scored.

Contreras, who finished the game with one run, and one hit, was disappointed with the loss but is still optimistic.

"We played well today, but East L.A. was hitting more than us. But I still think we are a better team," she said.

"[On the forthcoming game,] I expect the team to win, and we have to play a solid game."

Head Coach Elaine Martinez thought the team fared well but knows it can still improve.

"I feel we have all the pieces we need, but I think we have a hard time gelling together," she said.

"If we can get some plays early on, maybe we can feed off that and that can get us fired up."

Coach Martinez is anticipating the team will step up in it's upcoming game and she hopes the team can bring their A game.

The Lancers will try to bounce back as they visit Cerritos today.

The Lancers' record stands at 1-5 in South Coast Conference play.
