The team continues its stranglehold on the South Coast Conference by ranking first with a perfect mark of 11-0, while extending its winning streak to 16 straight games.
The No. 3 ranked team in the state, the Lancers have an overall record of 17-1.
The Lancers came out strong from the beginning of the match as it was determined to send a message to the Mounties that it was going to be a long night for them.
PCC was relentless on offense as it had 34 attack kills from eight different players who were spiking the ball with power and grace. Its defense was strong and held its ground with 38 digs and numerous blocked shots.
The Lancers served 11 aces to just one by the dejected Mounties, who seemed to be overwhelmed and made too many mistakes throughout the entire match. PCC controlled the match as Mt. SAC only had the lead twice, both at 1-0 in the first and third sets.
Setting the tone was freshman outside hitter Patti Blasco and freshman setter Jessica Xu.
Blasco had a team leading eight kills to go along with seven digs and Xu had a great overall game with 23 set assists, four kills, two aces and two blocks.
They were not the only players who contributed to the win as it was a complete team effort.
Sophomore opposite hitter Galia Sotomayor had an outstanding game with seven kills, as did freshman middle blocker Miranda Doing, who had five kills with four digs and a block.
"We practiced hitting all this week and it really showed in today's game, but our serving needs to keep improving," said Sotomayor, who was delighted with the team's win.
The win was especially gratifying for freshman middle blocker Jessica Foley, who had an outstanding game.
"Beating Mt. SAC was great because they're our rivals and I know them (on a personal level) and played against most of their players in high school," said Foley.
Head coach Tammy Silva was very pleased with the result and the performance they put out.
"This was a complete team effort," she said. "Our middles played well, and we had players contributing in all areas, and had a good performance by our bench.
"Mt. SAC attempted to prevent one part of our game, but all that did was allow us to spread our offense, and it opened it up for the rest of our team."
The Lancers' next game is away at LA Trade Tech on Friday at 7 p.m., in a conference match.
