Holiday Angels, an annual event sponsored by the AS to help parents who are enrolled in the EOP/S program to bring some Christmas joy for their kids, will be held, Dec. 19.
"They [parents] ask their kids what they want for Christmas and they write it down on the list, so it's what they want to get from Santa," said Lauren Crisci, vice president of student services.
Tags are put together and then placed on the Christmas tree in the lobby of T110. People can take the tags from the tree and get them checked out at the front desk. The presents are returned wrapped.
The event is for parents who can't afford to get presents for their children and a way to make the holidays more cheerful. A banquet with dessert is included and the menu is changed every year.
"We have crafts that the kids can do and watch a movie, and then Santa comes and brings the presents and it's exactly what they wanted," said Crisci.
Crisci and Acevedo encourage students to volunteer or participate in getting gifts. There are currently 10 volunteers who are involved in this holiday event. A volunteer list is available at the front desk of T-110.
"If anyone is interested in helping to volunteer, they can sign up there and help me decorate, or take care of the kids while they are doing the crafts and then clean up, and they get fed," said Crisci.
