A campus-wide task force has unanimously recommended that campus police be equipped with firearms, officials said. According to Lt. Brad Young of the PCC Police Department, who served as an advisor to the task force, the "Arming the Police" Task Force was persuaded by the evidence collected in the 14 months it took to create the report.

Talks of action are already underway just weeks after the Board of Trustees' decision to cancel winter intersession in an effort to balance the projected deficit of $7.7 million for the upcoming fiscal year.

AS application deadline extended

The Selection Committee appointed by the Associated Students opted to extend its application deadline for students to apply for two currently vacant seats. The deadline moved from July 17 to July 23 by 4 p.m. The two unoccupied positions are the Vice President for Internal Affairs and the Vice President for Cultural Diversity.
